There are many bardic tales as well as stories from weary travellers about that which roams the country sides lurking in its many shadows. These creatures once human gave the ultimate sacrifice to their gods seeking immortality until their bodies crumble to dust thus returning to the Pillar of Souls what they have vowed to replenish time and again.
Still yet, the great Heralds of Aabahran speak of a Shade War that happened eons ago where the only safety from the minions of death was held in the wearing of a rusted Talisman. Alas an ancient prophecy of a great war against the living was foreseen and became a reality where the most revered of the minions of death and chaos were to join together. These minions were called Dreadlords, two of death, two of chaos, and a leader. Flamus the Fire Dreadlord - one chosen of Crypticant, Kentry the Power Dreadlord - one chosen of Virigoth, Malosos the Fear Dreadlord - one chosen of Virigoth, Tetsunai the Shadow Dreadlord - one chosen of Crypticant, and the leader Phaedrous the Fury Dreadlord - chosen of both. These minions called together to destroy the living upon Aabahran as well as to battle the chosen three known as the Theran Winds.
Undead are chosen from mortal men and women, as they are the most ambitious of all races, short lived and ever restless to become the best of their respective guilds. As such all humans of any guild who follow the religion of death may attempt to appease their god and prove their devotion in the twisted goals of the destruction of all life upon Aabahran by returning the souls the pyre.
The undead usually are found in solitary groups of one or two wandering darkened roadways or graveyards. Though larger groups are not unheard of either, as well as rumors of entire townships being turned and wandering their streets.
The undead see Demons at times as another means to reach their goals. After all, once the torment and suffering the demon causes is complete, in most cases the victim finds themselves imprisoned within the Pillar of Souls. There is no truce drawn between the demon god and the ruler over the Cycle and both have seen their minions shredded by the other on many occasion.
The other races however are seen as mere prey, the undead feed on the very essence of their victims' life force much differently then the vampires, who feed on their blood. Also they in some twisted fashion envy and loath mortals for their liveliness they can never again truly possess.
